Let Them Die?
At the Republican National Convention, someone asked whether a patient without health insurance should be allowed to die.
Click here to view one woman's personal response to this.
When President Obama's mother was diagnosed with cancer, her insurance company forced her to prove that it was not a "pre-existing condition".
Not to let these people off the hook, but we need to remember that we have alternatives.

Our History, Our Healing
One reason why I post about Black history so much on Ancestral Energies is that the more we understand our history, the better equipped we are to create a better future.
Black people, like many oppressed groups, sometimes have a tendency to blame ourselves and each other for our problems.
Difficult and painful images of Africa flood our TV screens, but the historical context for these issues is seldom given.
The more we understand the history of Africa under colonisation, the more we can begin to understand why African people are in the position we are in - both on the continent and all over the Diaspora.
We need to understand that wherever we are in the world, African people are facing many of the same challenges.
And we need to understand why - this is an essential part of our healing process.
Click here for my blog on the Black history film The First Grader, which explores the history of British colonisation in Africa.

Black Men Healthier in Prison
Guess what? A new study has shown that Black men are healthier and less likely to die untimely deaths in prison than on the outside.
That's right. They are claiming the brothers are better off behind bars.
What I don't know, but would like to know, is whether this study covers issues such as
- African American men becoming addicted to drugs while incarcerated?
- African American men becoming HIV positive while behind bars? and
- Black men being disproportionately reprepresented in the prison population - on both sides of the Atlantic? (Maybe they are just in there for their health.)
Please comment below.
The Black Barbershop Men's Health Project promotes health to African American men in the areas of hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes. To read an article about the project by Dr. Bill Releford, click here to order the free ebook More Black Success Volume 4.

Be Real with Yourself
I've been watching this great video: Be Real with Yourself.
It's all about taking personal responsibility.
This sista is very brave in talking about the challenges she is dealing with. We all have problems and difficulties sometimes, and it's a question of learning from them.
When we look at what we can learn from a difficult situation, this empowers us. We can then make better choices.
Click here to watch it now.
Click here to read Why We Need to Heal, which is also about taking personal responsibility.

African Americans 50% More Likely to Have Strokes
African American adults are 50 percent more likely to have a stroke than their White adult counterparts. Further, men are 70% more likely to die from a stroke than their White adult counterparts. According to a CDC health interview survey also reveals that African Americans stroke survivors are more likely to become disabled and have difficulty with activities of daily living than their non-Hispanic white counterparts.

Raising Your Money Setpoint
Your money setpoint is the point above which you feel uncomfortable earning or receiving money.
If your income exceeds your money setpoint, you will get rid of the additional money somehow. You may even go bankrupt or end up with less money than before, like T. Harv Eker. To read more about this, see Making a Quantum Leap.
The good news is, your money setpoint is not set in stone. You can raise it. Click here for a video on how to raise your money setpoint.
For more info on EFT, including free downloads, see Achieving Fabulous Success.

Unemployment and Depression
The use of antidepressants has increased by 47% since 2006.
It is easy to become depressed when one is unemployed. Most of us define ourselves by what we do for a living.
When we lost our jobs, we also lose contact with our former workmates, which cancause us to feel isolated.
I have practical, effective tools to help you cope, find a job and transform your life. For more about this, see: Unemployment and Depression.
I am also offering free jobsearch consultations for people who have read Success Strategies for Black People. Click here for more details.

Dealing with the Stuff We Don't Want to Talk About
On the first day of the Tapping World Summit, one of the audios was about dealing with money problems, money issues, financial worries and debt.
Often, this is the stuff we don't want to talk about. We don't even want to think about it. But this is often where we can make the most progress.
To read about what we can do about it, see: Dealing with Objections.

The Trouble with Tapping
Sometimes, using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to tap on an issue can bring up very difficult, distressing material. When Gary Craig first introduced EFT, he placed a strong emphasis on being gentle with yourself. EFT was supposed to reduce your level of anxiety, stress or trauma, and it did so for many people.
But it's not always that simple.
To read more, see The Trouble with Tapping. See also, Dealing with Objections.
These are some of the issues I will cover in my forthcoming workshops on Relaxation/ Finding Creative Solutions. I hope you will join us.

To read more about visualisation, see: You are Magnificent.

Connecting with Success
Many people struggle with visualization. This article on EFT and Visualizing Success explains that it's not important to get a picture of your success; rather, you should connect with the feelings of success.
Whenever we move toward a goal, we become aware of our mental objections. This is just part of the process. In EFT, these thoughts are called "tail-enders".

This Can Really Change Your Life
I have been a fan of EFT for years.
This can really change your life - and it's free!
EFT can help us to transform health issues, money and financial issues, jobs and employment, and every area of our lives.
If you want to learn more, you will sign up for this free online event.
Plus, I am holding some workshops in London. These are free of charge - see Relaxation Workshops for more info.
The Tapping World Summit has 20 free presentations with big names from the EFT/Tapping world
o You're going to learn EXACTLY how to do tapping in
this event. Remember, the pre-event video series was
just a warm up. The best part is still to come! :)
o This is an online event, so there is no need to
book hotels or wait in traffic
o The main event is 100% free to attend. You get
to listen to 2 presentations each day for 10 days
and you have a 24 hour period to listen to the calls.
(You don't have to be there at an exact time.)
o Everything is streamed through the web, so there's
no expensive phone bills!
o The way we're able to keep it free is we offer
an upgrade option for those that want to own the
audio to the presentations, the transcripts, the
workbook for the event, and the great bonuses (like
the full 10 videos in the Video Series) - all at a
very fair price.
Lastly, I want to cover one more topic because of a question
that people have asked numerous times: "What exactly
is EFT or tapping, and how do I start using it?"
So we have answers for this important question today for
people that are new to EFT (don't worry, we have a great
resource for the advanced people today as well).
For more about this, check out my articles:
Achieving Fabulous Success - download free EFT ebooks and audios here.
You Are Magnificent - more about how EFT can help you, and other ways you can manifest your dreams.
As you'll see throughout the event, we cover both basic
and advanced topics so there's great information for everybody
who attends.
If you're new to EFT and tapping, you can find out exactly
what it is and share with you the "Quick Start Guide" for the
event.
You can listen to it when you sign up.
Click here to register for the Tapping World Summit.
Here's some of what you'll learn in the call:
- Exactly how to do tapping (there is even a video
to show you the tapping points)
- What to expect with the Tapping World Summit
- An actual experience with tapping so you can see it work
(you'll tap along with Nick and Jessica on the call on a
couple of issues like physical pain and negative emotions)
- Why you will make drastic improvements in your life by
attending this free online event
On the page, you'll also be able to listen to the other
two pre-event audios with EFT expert Carol Look and the
more advanced audio with Dawson Church (which I highly
recommend).
So go ahead and listen to the "Quick Start Guide" and
again, just to clarify since so many people have asked
this question, this event is 100% free to attend
online during the 10 days of the event which starts
on February 21st at 8PM EST.
If you want to own the calls and MP3s or have the CDs
of the event, plus the transcripts and the workbook, you
can choose to upgrade to the gold or platinum package,
but it is completely optional.
Plus, it ia rare that any event or product allows you
to sample the entire product before deciding if you
want to own it.
I hope you attend. For now, enjoy the free audios. :)

Healing from Racism: Addressing the Shadow of Internalized Racism
This was posted to a group I belong to. If you believe, as I do, that African people need healing, you will be interested in this.
See also: Why We Need to Heal.
The Hattie Carthan Community Market invites you to attend a Black History Month public health racism series: Healing through Learning//Unlearning Racism,
Facilitated by urban farmer/visionary bridger and council facilitator Yonnette Fleming.
To create a learning curriculum based on your community's needs, cultural readiness reading list or to request a multidimensional workshop or council series for your group please call 718-638-3566.
@2009 Programs for Community Resilience Workshop topics: Community gardening,, Community building, Ancestor healing/reconciliation ceremonies, plant based nutritional healing, feminine empowerment, herbalism, Urban Agriculture as a tool for community revitalization, animal husbandry, food justice, practical and theory of music, Mindful drumming, sound medicine healing, Reiki I II III, Energy medicine.
DATES: Part I Feb 12th 2011 11am to 3pm,
Part II Feb 26th 2011 11am to 4pm
PLACE: MAGNOLIA TREE AND EARTH CENTER Great Room (Parlor Floor) 677 Lafayette Avenue Bet Marcy & Tompkins GG Bedford/Nostrand B38 Marcy or Tompkins
Suggested Donation $7
Let's get to the heart of the U.S slavery system by learning about how this system worked and why it was introduced in the Americas. We will view a documentary about Africans in the Americas, examine key principles of racism and work through our own heart stories of rage, anger and pain in community council.
The African drums will be employed to help us work out our collective pain.
Our world faces a crisis. Everywhere people are oppressing and killing each other because they are different colors, speak different languages, follow different religions and ideologies. Many people are working to solve the problem of racism in the U.S from the confines of their offices , addressing the problem mostly in intellectual reductionist ways, while still upholding the basic tenets of it. Come share from the heart about the ways that you have seen racism work.
Extend your understandings to include how racism also affects the choices of food that we find in our communities and the high level of stress that people of color face in their everyday existence.
What to Bring: Notepads, African Drums, ancestral representations, tissues.
Sessions begin with libation. We'll TALK IT OUT! Then DRUM it OUT! Warm herbal beverage & grounding African food will be provided.
Community council is a traditional method of connecting and exploring individual and systemic issues. This method has been used by indigenous societies for centuries and is particularly suitable for land dispute resolution issues and to remove cultural barriers within communities. In a community council people are encouraged to speak from the heart. The symbolism of the circle establishes no dominance by any party and has no beginning or end.

Healing from Racism: Addressing the Shadow of Internalized Racism
February 26th 2011 11am to 4pm
Workshop 11am to 1pm Community workday 2pm-4pm at Hattie Carthan garden
Marcy Avenue & Clifton Place
SUGGESTED DONATION: $7
Please join us in examining the theoretics of Internalized racism and identify ways of working through this collective shadow which stands in the way of our individual emergence and group liberation. Every hurt/mistreatment if not discharged fully (healed), creates a distinct spiritual wound which, when restimulated pushes a person through the re-enactment of the original distress experience.
Internalized racism has been the primary means by which people of color have been forced to perpetuate and agree to their own oppression. This form of racism causes us to turn our distress patterns upon ourselves, our family, our community leaders, against other people of color. It is safe to conclude that Patterns of internalized oppression severely stands in shadow of our collective healing, empowerment and justice. The process of healing from a system of oppression in which the material, intellectual, spiritual and emotional resources of one people are put in service of another through force, deception and disrespect for their ways must be addressed on all of these levels in order for healing to occur.
WE WILL BREATHE IT OUT! TALK IT OUT! ACT/WORK IT OUT!
What to bring: Yoga mats, ancestral representations, water, tissues, gardening gloves. Warm healing soup will be provided at community workday site (Hattie Carthan community garden)
Supporters: Hattie Carthan community market & Just Food
"The trouble around difference is really about privilege & power - the existence of privilege & the lopsided distribution of power that keeps it going. The trouble is rooted in a legacy that we all inherited, and while we're here it affects us. It isn't our fault. It wasn't caused by something we did or didn't do. But now that it's ours, it's up to us to decide how we're going to deal with it before we collectively pass it along to the generations that follow ours."
